What is trauma? Growing up I thought trauma was a very simple defined term. However, as I have grown, I have come to learn that trauma is defined in more unique, various terms. We live in a society that trauma for each individual has its own story and lesson. From a discussion with a friend, he believed that another one of our friends had no trauma growing up because he grew up in a wealthy family and was provided with many luxuries. However, now after understanding how much deeper trauma really is, I was able to explain to my friend that our friend may appeared to not have experienced any trauma, but so many other areas have been a struggle for him and his growth. Understanding that each individual has their own struggles and have different resources, different methods to cope, really impacts how one can grow and learn to become the best version of themselves. Trauma should not be defined as a term, but a limitless unfortunate struggle for an individual. We should understand that trauma is a struggle, but also a challenge for us as a society to fight together and help each individual overcome so we can help create the best version of each and every one.
