In preparation for an upcoming series STRYV365 is set to resent with SaintA’s, I found myself going down a rabbit hole of research. It started off looking into examples of athlete resilience – specifically notable names of collegiate or professional players who had dealt with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
Even though I am not the most knowledgeable golf fan, I am familiar with some of its well-known names including those of the game’s legends that my cousin Patrick, a golf aficionado, has shared and ranted to me about over the years. Had I heard the name Ben Hogan before? Yes, but the name alone did not stand out. Have you heard of Ben Hogan before? If so, was it for his 9 major championships or something else?
After spending some time researching his story and learning about his childhood, I must admit I am blown away by what he persevered through and the man he became. Sadly, he was no stranger to trauma.
