This week, March 18th, is National Close the Gap Day. This holiday advocates for health equity of Australia’s indigenous people and educating the wider public about health issues and barriers that their communities face. Perhaps in solidarity with Australia and own minority and indigenous communities we should participate by celebrating and sharing their stories; and advocate for and educate those around us.
In honor of providing suggestions to help close generational gaps in healthcare and reducing barriers to our community’s well-being, we wanted to share a recent report from Wisconsin’s Office of Children’s Mental Health that outlines information on eliminating childhood poverty. They provide a list of items that can be done to help end childhood poverty – across all sectors – policies, families and communities, and schools. In order to have a lasting impact, closing the gap on national and local issues takes action. Join us as we STRYV to do our part to help close the gap.
