Children who face more than one kind of trauma or toxic stress such as parental divorce, violence, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse are likely to show behavioral and physical problems. But it does not stop there though. Their childhood trauma can follow them into adulthood and affect their health. Making them susceptible to substance abuse, heart problems, mental health issues, and more. But this is not the end of everything. It is never too late to heal and to overcome our challenges. Children who are going through toxic stress can learn ways to cope and adults who are now suffering from their childhood trauma can learn to talk and address it. It’s never the end.
