Katie is a Milwaukee born & raised, a third generation graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. While there, she participated in volleyball, basketball & soccer. She then went on to attend the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities, as a member of the Gopher Rowing Team. While at the UofM, Katie joined Delta Gamma Fraternity, where she found her place as a Health Advocate for her house & a Rush Advisor, helping others go through the recruitment process. It was here specifically that she took a liking to volunteering in the community.
After graduating in 2011 with a degree in Sport Management & Youth Studies, she made her way back home to Milwaukee & accepted a position with the AmeriCorps program- Public Allies where she was placed with United Way of Greater Milwaukee. While with AmeriCorps, she completed over 2,500+ volunteer hours, maintained social media accounts, planned and implemented training and service days for large groups and authored a 75 pages toolkit entitled “Let’s Talk”, aiming to enable parents to be the main educators of their child's sexual health education. In her second year with AmeriCorps as a fellow, she served as an advisor to the first year allies, helping them navigate the process. Since then, she has worked as an account manager for an AMC, where she did everything from maintaining day to day operations, to planning & implementing large scale educational conferences.
Katie remains extremely active in volunteering & participates annually in planning the ALS Chapter of Wisconsin’s Hope Derby Party. In the 5 years since its inception, the Derby Party has raised almost 250k, which directly impacts those living with ALS in our communities.
In her free time, she loves spending time with family- who all live in the area, enjoying concerts both in Milwaukee & across the country, cheering on the Milwaukee Bucks, soaking in the sun on the lakes in the summer & petting dogs.
